Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': Final Animation 28/04/2016

'The Sixth Sense 1999' Sense'ational 25/04/2016

Figure 1: 'The Sixth Sense 1999' Poster This film review will focus on the film 'The Sixth Sense (1999)' , the plot of the story is a little boy called Cole Sear, who has rare gift and curse, he has the ability to see dead people. When he is consulted by a doctor known as Malcolm Crowe he quickly makes friends with the small child and proceeds to help him, however the plot of this film has one of the best plot twist ending for any film. When the ending is first seen it is slightly questionable and with a few inconsistencies with the screenplay, however after going back and watching it again the screenplay is extremely well done, near to the point of flawless, it sums up the entire film with incredible beauty and perfection. The film was released in 1999 and was directed and written by M. Night Shyamalan, produced by Frank Marshal, cinematography was Tak Fujimoto and the music for the film was done by James Newton Howard. This film was one of the most successful f...

'The Wicker Man 1973' It was Wickered. 15/04/2016

Figure 1: 'The Wicker Man 1973' Poster This film review will focus on the film 'The Wicker Man 1973', the story follows the investigation of a police officer named Sgt. Howie, who has been sent to the remote Hebridean island of Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a young girl, little does he know there is much more going on behind the scenes and the film quickly turns from generic police investigation into a very dangerous game of cat and mouse. The film has a huge amount of religious symbolism behind it, even down to where the film is set decisions were taken to make sure the details all fitted together and made sense. The film was released in 1973 and was directed by Robin Hardy, produced by Peter Snell, Harry Waxman did the cinematography and Paul Giovanni produced the music. The film was based off of the book 'Ritual 1967' which was written by David Pinner who sold the rights of the book to Christopher Lee who later turned the book in the ...

Maya Tutorial: Projection Planes 08/04/2016

This technique is usually used in films to give a false sense of a flat plane being 3D. This process requires minimal modeling and can be done quickly and easily. Wireframe Base Projection Image

Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': Environment Color Pallets 05/04/2016

Final Concepts and Color Pallets These are my final choices for my color pallets, there are reasons for my design choices so let me explain. Red can be a color of pain and hatred, but it can also mean love, the color of blood is red. Certain tones of red can make something appear hostile or dangerous, but when used correctly this can look very nice and loving. Red in the animation is the symbol of health. Blue can mean freedom, life and cleanliness, the color of water usually. However blue can also mean depression and cold temperatures, having a tone where this is still visually pleasing to look at and recognizable that something is wrong is key here. Purple can mean mystery, exploration, poison and unknown, purple is a basic mixture of red and blue. Some purples can be the colors of bruises, showing that something is healing. Whilst it still looks bad there is healing going on, also I wanted this to look a little bit like space so the purple did quite a good job of that.

Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': Antibiotic Bomb Concept 05/04/2016

Antibiotic Bomb Concept The antibiotic bomb is the solution and answer to the bacteria problem, whilst it will wipe out the infection some bacteria will survive. The reason to show the antibiotic as a bomb is to show that it can still do more damage rather help.

Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': Defender Cell Concepts 05/04/2016

White Blood Cell Concept The white blood cells are in charge of killing infections, having the design of these guys on a more military inspired look (Henceforth the cross-hairs) should be able to show easily these guys are ready to deal with whatever threat they are given.

Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': Design Logic of the Environment 29/03/2016

The Environment Logic Okay so I have figured out how the animations background will work. The animation will be showing the stages of how the body will recover from infection. The purple one is quite new, I was given advice to make the environment look more 'Nebular-esk' so I tried to add purple to the mix (Red + Blue = Purple) to show an in between stage of how the body recovers and it made the image look very Sci-Fi. This is just a logic map so showing how I can get my idea across is very key at this point, there is also a lot more to come but at this moment in time getting the environment down solid was a priority for me.

Maya Tutorial: Skinning Leg 24/03/2016

Leg Model This is the based model provided that I will have worked on. Paint Skin Weights So there are multiple ways you can paint skins on, this method includes using the hierarchical parent joint to flood everything, using one joint at a time flood specific regions of 'Set' joints (E.g. Pelvis, Ankle) the do the reverse for the hierarchical parent joint, taking away from that set flood from the beginning. Component Editor  So these are all the traditional methods, you can be very precise with how you want your model to move but this does take a large amount of time. Interactive Skin Binding Interactive is a very simple way of skinning a model if you need a model to be skinned quickly to a reasonable standard. However the one advantage with this is that it will not be as accurate as using paint weight to make the movement look better, this method is less accurate than painting weights.

Maya Tutorial: Skinning Arm 24/03/2016

Skinning can be quite complex when you first attempt it, but after playing with it for a little bit it is very simple, just tedious. There are a couple ways of skinning, the easiest way to begin this is by using 'Bind Skin'. You could essentially leave your model like this but sometimes a model can glitch or be clunky to animate.
