'Rosemary's Baby 1968' Conceiving, Conceptualizing and Controlling 09/03/2016

Figure 1: 'Rosemary's Baby' Poster This film review will focus on the film 'Rosemary's Baby 1968' , being set in the 1960's there were a lot of changes happening to society, such as the introduction of the contraception pill and woman's rights in society. The story follows a young woman called Rosemary Woodhouse and her husband Guy Woodhouse as they move into their new home and plan to have a baby, this is oddly interrupted however by an odd old couple who have seemed to taken a 'fond' liking to the young couple. As Rosemary's pregnancy goes on odd things begin to happen after suffering from a horrible nightmare? Or is it a nightmare at all? The stories pacing is good to say the least, it can struggle to get the viewers attention at first but when stuff begins to pick up the movie is much more enjoyable. This film potentially takes large influence from 'Psycho (1960')  and was probably one of the main inspirations for the film ...

'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 1982' Skittles! Now used for Alien Coaxing! 08/03/2016

Figure 1: 'E.T.' Poster This film review will focus on the film 'E.T.', becoming a known favorite for many adults and children this film took Sci-Fi in the direction that didn't exactly play out like an expected alien film at the time, taking inspiration from his previous film 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind 1977' and the direction the narrative went in, this film really plays to Steven Spielberg strengths whilst creating new techniques to use in later films. The film was Directed and produced by Steven Spielberg, was written by Melissa Mathison, the music was done by John Williams and the cinematography was done by Allen Daviau. E.T. is one of those films that was 'A first of its kind', being friendly for kids and also being a massive influence on other future media, showing that the Sci-Fi Genera did not always have to be filled to the brim with horror but can have a creature that we can bond and relate too even though they don't exis...

Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': The Smog Concepts 02/03/2016

The Smog The 'Smog' is which the viruses hide in before they are consumed. Here are a couple designs for how the viruses is concealed but I can't really pick one.

Project 3 'Fantastic Voyage!': Virus Creature Studies 25/02/2016 (Thumbnails 11-42)

Study Board Just testing out some shapes for the virus drawings, I want the viruses to look like almost nightmarish creatures, dark shadows that enter the body. You can see where I have gotten some of my inspirations from down the bottom, snakes, spiders, sharks, angler fish and mosquitoes. There are about 30 sketches of little bits that could either be hanging off of these creatures as well as studies of what eyes they should have. Having this black lump on their head to represent the eye could make the creature appear as if it was soulless, making these designs a little more creepy. Iggly Bits

Fantastic Voyage: Influence Map 24/02/2016

Influence Map This is my Influence Map for this project, it is comprised of many images which I personally would have taken inspiration for when developing my project. The topic I have chosen is a slight cheat I will admit because my chosen topic is more or less all four topics, HIV, Zika virus, The immune system and how bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. My main focus will be on the immune system and how it defends itself and how bacteria gets in, once the logic of how an infection enters it will show how the body deals with this threat, however some threats are more dangerous than others, such as HIV and Zika virus. Also to note is how viruses adapt to antibiotics, this visually will be the main focus of this animation, having visual representations of viruses shown to get certain messages across.

Sound Design: All Three of my Sounds 23/02/2016

Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 So my final three piece came out pretty sweet in the end, audio has always been a little intimidating for me so having overcome this milestone was a huge achievement for me. I really enjoyed this project and maybe I will make a few more of these in the future.

Maya Tutorial: Reflectivity 22/02/2016

Final Render The methods I needed to use to get a certain effect on the glass was very confusing at first but now I understand it reasonably well. Having so that the reflection will only react on certain parts of the bottle really makes it look a lot better, rather than having lots of noise spread out randomly on the model.

'Jaws 1975' It's Jawdropping! 17/02/2016

Figure 1: 'Jaws 1975' Poster This film review will focus on the film 'Jaws 1975', this film is one of the most recognizable films of all time. This is one of Steven Spielberg's best pieces of work and set him up later for him other films such as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and E.T. A fun little fact is near the end of the film during the fight with the shark you can spot white lines appear across the sky, those were actually shooting stars! The were not edited in but happened on set. The music for the film is some of the most recognizable you will ever hear, the iconic 'Dun Dun - Dun Dun - Dun Dun' noise signaling build-up and anticipation is known by almost everybody. The film was directed by Steven Spielberg, produced by Richard D. Zanuck and David Brown, the screenplay was done by Peter Benchley and Carl Gottlieb, the cinematography was done by Bill Butler and the music was done by John Williams. Jaws is an amazing film, whilst still having some ...

Maya: Low Poly Office 12/02/2016

This is my low poly environment. I put some shaders and toon outlines to make it look a little more pleasing to the eye and it looks good!

'The Birds 1963' Look! Is it a bird? Yeah, its a bird alright... 31/01/2016

Figure 1: The Birds 1963 Poster   This film review will focus on the film 'The Birds 1963', the film was made in 1963 and is another one of Alfred Hitchcock’s films. The film was directed by Alfred Hitchcock , the screenplay was done by Evan Hunter , cinematography was done by Robert Burks and the soundtrack was done by Bernard Herrmann . The film is very detailed in its design, having the special effects that it did were very complex and took a while to make. However some scenes do look a little dodgy, even now it is slightly amusing watching gulls fly head first into homes almost as if they don’t know how to fly. The pacing for the film is also slightly odd, there is a sense of these birds having some sort of significance but the build-up is so weirdly paced and sudden that it makes the introduction of the birds almost unexplainable. However despite this the film is widely regarded as a really good film, showing that the effects and story do have quite a lot of backbon...

Story Plot 3.0 29/01/2016

1. The story starts off with a Stuntman Poster showing how great this guy was, then the camera pans to a drunk stuntman at a bar. The TV then tells the story of a stuntman who has lost his job due to drinking habits, which is when we will see our stuntman. The stuntman is looking at pictures of the film set he used to work on (Which he loved ever so dear) and then takes a shot of some sort of drink. When he then looks up he then starts to hallucinate that the bar is his film set. Notes: Some things to note about this first scene is that camera descriptions are not yet put in, however the camera is going to pan by the stuntman’s glass to show his presence. Also in this sequence there is a bartender and he leaves the bar to leave the stuntman alone.  2. He dances, prances and jumps around the bar, however after a while his vision beings to turn back to reality. In a sad attempt to stay in this happy dream he tries to find more booze but cannot find anything, apart from one ‘Very’...
