Over the past six weeks, there have been many laughs, many tears. We have encountered oddities from a Pianist with an ego as large as his piano, To a couple where the cat is always been on fire. Games were played and lessons were learnt, and it has been a blast. The rivalry between Sharknado 5 and Wildcats has been interesting, and with much pain, I have to declare Sharknado 5 the victors of Cheeseburger Keepy Uppy, so congrats to you guys!   So away from the tomfoolery and onto what could actually be taken away from these lessons apart from a damaged nose. The main things we have learned in these sessions is the conveying of emotions, creating tension, improvisation, high status and low status. The whole idea of these sessions was to show us how we can put these techniques into our animatons, in order to get more bang for our buck. Ninja This week in acting we had to focus once again on improvisation, however, the twist this time around we were given scenarios to play off of. For example, we were told to walk in circles and had to walk in a particular way  depending  on the situation, for example, walk as if you were stressed, you walk past an old Ex, or you were walking to a party. Acting Session  So the conveying of emotions through subtle motions was key in this exercise, so when we were put into groups and we performed for one another, we were able to get feedback to see what worked and what didn't, tweaking our performances. Minor Setbacks Unfortunately, this week in 'Keepy Uppy' the previous record of 87 has been discredited due to the fact the ball was different. So for now, Sharknado holds the current record of 72 for the Keepy Uppy score, but don't worry, Wildcats will bounce back!

In acting this week in acting, we focused on improvisation again. We have all had a fair amount of practice with acting at this point, and it felt like we really knew what we were doing in this session. The task we were assigned was a bunch of random objects were laid onto the floor, one person was sent out of the room and the others would select another object for the first person to use. We then gave the object a purpose, like coconut shells being a bra or a book being used as a hat. This was meant to challenge us to think outside the box. Being thrown into a scenario which you have to learn as you progress was an interesting challenge. I can see how animation can play into these actions, so the connection is there. In other news, the new keepy-uppy record has now been increased to 87 due to The Wildcats exemplary performance. Better get practicing Sharknado 5!

The Training Wheels  So in acting this week we elaborated upon some of the techniques we learned last week, however, this time we had to get across on a scale of one to ten how we felt (One being Sad/Down and Ten being High and Powerful). Once the idea of High and Low roles had been established, we were the given random scenes where we were both given a high role and a low role. It's interesting to see how everyone adapted and improvised, and I'm certainly looking forward to next week. The Wildcats vs Sharknado 5 Also, our group in the great game known as 'Cheesy Burger Keepy Uppey?' we have decided to name our group the wildcats, to show off our wild personalities. (We still have a better name.)

I know it says Week 2, but unfortunately, I didn't have any sort of camera so I couldn't take any screenshots from last week. In the acting classes, we have been learning about positioning and translating messages through means of action rather than words. It's interesting to see how certain messages can be translated because of the way the body moves or reacts to certain situations. I can definitely see how these kinds of things can be applied to animation and the rules that can be applied to different kinds of animation. The twelve principles can also be applied to the way we act to an extent, so the emphasis on certain motions to portray either an action or a movement is super interesting to partake and observe.
