The Palm Cockatoo is going to be based on the idea of a drummer in the animation.
The palm Cockatoo already looks like some sort of drummer, having the red markings and the massive mowhawk, he emmits the characteristics of a heavy metal drummer.
This bird also uses a stick in order to drum, so I'm going to try use that as some sort of drumstick, and his tail could almost act like some sort of bass drum pedal, making a loud "Thwack" noise whenever it hits the floor.
I've focused on key parts of the bird (Mowhawk, beak and drumstick) and based my overall designs off of those attributes. I've also developed the red patch on its head into a mask in order to highlight the birds eyes in some of the designs, but I still want to put more emphasis on some of the drummer like qualities of the character.
I know I need to move away from this drawing style, however in order to get my ideas down faster I'm going to use the designs which look the best (Or that I get the best feedback on) and develop those even further on paper, moving further away from this jagged design workflow.

I love 3 and 6.
ReplyDelete2 and 6 really give off the vibe of punk rock bird, however I think that you should look more into the colours of the bird your referencing as the cockatoo isnt brown and muted red but a vivid black/blue and red, bright colours are really important to male birds you know!!
