This exercise I could see being very useful in most videogames, specifically level design. If you were creating some sort of playspace with long corridors you would need a texture that seems larger than it is. Also learning to create a bump and specular map through the Channel Mixed was something I hadn't though of, so I will definitely use these methods again when creating bump and specular maps. Also using a separate layer to alter the bump and specular layers with a color dodge is also a really good idea, quick and effective.
